    Posted on 05/15/2019

El Paso Water recognized the El Paso Zoo as the 2019 Conservation Hero at the May 10 El Paso Chihuahuas baseball game.   Of various city facilities audited in 2018, the Zoo scored the highest for water efficiency best practices, which earned them the distinction. The Conservation team performed an audit over a four-day period and looked at 28 buildings, including 114 faucets, 59 toilets and 14 urinals.  “overall, the Zoo demonstrated best practices with only a couple of fixtures flowing below best practice standards,” said Conservation Manager Anai Padilla.

“Visitors can be assured that the El Paso Zoo cares about water conservation and the community,” said Conservation Technician Dawn Walker-Hughes, who participated in the audit.  Learn more in this EPWater story, which also features a video on the zoo.
