    TAWWA Nomination

El Paso Water is proud to have nominated Lorena Cerecerez, a Science Instructional Coach at Del Valle Elementary, to be the Water Educator of the Year Award, a distinction provided by The Texas section of the American Water Works Association (TAWWA). Many teachers from around the state are nominated, and TAWWA will announce the winner in March.

The award recognizes Texas K-12 classroom educators who demonstrate excellence in educating students about the value of water to their school and community.

With 17 years of teaching under her belt and more than 4 years as an Instructional Coach, Cerecerez has brought her passion for environmental stewardship to her students.

During this school year, Cerecerez has brought conservation lessons and hands-on activities to nearly 250 K-5 students.

“Water brings us together and is at the core of every community,” said Cerecerez. “Through awareness and education, we are able to teach others of the importance of this great resource and the best practices needed in order to treat it with the respect that it deserves.”

In discussing the nomination, Water Conservation Manager Anai Padilla said Cerecerez is a true inspiration to kids, teachers and the community.  “We could not ask for a better advocate for water conservation.”
