Texas Waters Specialist Program

In 2018, El Paso Water (EPWater) collaborated with Texas Parks and Wildlife to offer the Texas Water Specialist lecture series at the TecH₂O Center. Over the course of seven months, 201 people attended seven lectures. For those who attended each one, certifications were granted with the hope and expectation that these individuals will give back to the community through a variety of educational programs.

Maxicom Training
Partnership to improve Parks conservation

As part of a partnership with the El Paso Parks and Recreation Department, the TecH2O Learning Center hosted two days of smart irrigation training to improve conservation practices at city parks. The training focused on Maxicom’s central control irrigation system and its hardware components. Parks staff were able to participate in practice sessions and walk through real-life examples of troubleshooting, repair, and installation of different irrigation system components.

The TecH2O Center marched right along to the beat of the Socorro Independent School District (SISD) drum during the Partners in Education Orientation and Exhibition on September 7 at their District Service Center. The partners and instructional coordinators were invited to mingle and discuss partnerships and resources.

Teachers Certified as Project WILD Facilitators

TecH₂O hosted a Project WILD facilitators’ workshop, where 14 local educators were certified as facilitators in September. Facilitated by Texas’s Project Wild Coordinator Kiki Corry and EPWater Conservation Technician April Thoreson, the Project WILD program provided bilingual curriculum guides and professional development to help teachers engage students in lessons around taking care of wildlife and the environment.

Santa at the Zoo- Santa at the Zoo is a fun-filled two-day event! On December 8 & 9 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., visitors will enjoy fluffy snow, letter writing to Santa, holiday crafts, and Santa! Join us for our annual holiday celebration. Even Zoo animals will get special treats for the occasion!

 

4th Annual PBS Kids Fiesta- Join the Chemistry Party at the 4th Annual PBS Kids Fiesta at the El Paso Convention Center on December 1 from 12 p.m.– 5 p.m.! FREE hands-on chemistry activities for the whole family! This event is part of a nationwide festival series to experiment, explore, and tackle chemistry.
